Aref Karim, FCA, Founder and Board Member, is the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of QCM carrying responsibility for the firm’s investment strategies and research.
Aref qualified in 1978 as Chartered Accountant from the UK and is a Fellow of the ICAEW. After serving in public practice as Senior Audit Manager for some years in London, he left overseas to join Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (‘ADIA’), the largest Sovereign Wealth Fund worldwide. The institution invests globally in various asset classes, including equities, fixed income, real estate and alternative investments.
Aref became the Senior Investment Manager of the Alternative Investment Department at ADIA. During his tenure at ADIA he looked after the investment policies, strategies and asset allocation for a multi-billion dollar Alternative Investment Portfolio. He was with the institution from 1982 to 1995 before returning to the UK to found QCM.
